This new version includes the ability to save scores even from your tables drilling.

So as one user requested, you can now test out your 7x, 8x or 9x times tables, save scores and see the improvement!

Learning your times tables is one of the best things you can do for helping your maths (that’s what we call “math” in Australia!) and it’ll be something you’ll use throughout your life.

So what I’ve done is created a composite score called the TT Score.

Basically, it’s a combination of the two – accuracy and speed – so the fastest you answer the questions and the more you get right, the higher your TT score.

At any stage you get a question wrong, you automatically get a three-second time penalty – not only does TimesTables display the correct answer but it ensures you can’t cheat and simply race through each question, right or wrong.

Another tip – you can use the numeric keypad of your keyboard to enter your answers in faster – just type in your score and press the <enter> key to load up the next question instantly.

New version 1.0.47 now allows you to save your scores and gives you leaderboard tables for each of the main five tests you can do – 20, 30, 50, 75, or 100 questions.

Otherwise, it’s the same as before – but now, it’s more fun to use…

When you complete a test, you’ll see a new entry point to type in your name. Do that, then press “Save Results”.

To view results, just choose “See the highest scores!” option on the main window and click the Start button.

Whether you’re shopping, working out a problem or doing rocket science, knowing your times tables is something that can make doing things so much quicker and easier.

But it doesn’t come easy to everyone. I was fortunate enough to learn my times tables up to 12x by the time I entered into the fourth grade (and this was back before the days of calculators in schools) but whether you’re in the fourth grade or maybe a little later in life, there’s no such thing as a bad time to learn your tables.

TimesTables is freeware software that helps you drill your times tables so you get to know them by rote (that just means knowing them without having to think) and then gives you a Speed Test of 20, 30, 50, 75 or 100 problems to answer as fast as you can. With practice, you can actually answer the 100-problem test inside two minutes!  (Yes, it can be done!)

Once you complete either a test or a drill, TimesTables will show you your results and even break them down into individual tables so you can see how well you went on 4x tables for example. It’ll even show you which ones you answered slowest on so you can go back and drill those again and get better at them.

TimesTables works on Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7 and only needs an 800×600-pixel screen. Any PC with a processor faster than 400MHz should be fine.

We’ll be adding some cool new features to make it more interesting to use but for now, download and try it out.

No matter how good you think you are on your times tables, this software should sort you out and help you know them better – and faster.
